The American Patriot

Remember, that the gentle silence of sunrise is a good time of day.  Remember, that each day begins with all that there is in God’s good hands.  That when we are born, our first breath has us inherit all that those before us sacrificed for.  Our inheritance is our country, a nation of those who choose to be free.

Remember, that Life for the American Soldier is uncertain.  Yet there are many who rise above the uncertain future. In so doing they embrace there love of country with courage.  Prepared to say their goodbyes; all along knowing that they will never forget those that remain in waiting, nor will they be forgotten for their sacrifice.  Their peace and tranquility goes forward in the spoken and written word, all with images reflected off the surface of this earth – traveling endlessly through the universe to that realm that belongs only to God.

There is one, the American patriot, who loves unconditionally and for the most part has never been truly understood for he conceals his pain well.  He will say to you and to me, Please “Go forward”, without me, if you must – “but I will never forget you, no matter where I am; I will always think of you and wonder how you are.”

The past – the future – all are the same.  There is one and one constant only that never changes.  Love with all of your heart, with your entire mind, and with all of your soul; dream of all that should be, and is not, but will be, simply because you refuse not to love.

I ask that you remember the American Soldier as a Patriot, one who loves his country.

And so it is with us, to enshrine the goodness of all Americans symbolized upon our Altars with Holy Scripture, and our Flag.

As a Chaplain I wish to recite a poem by Samuel Clements, but deliver it as a prayer for our Military Service Men and Women, who have given their last measure of devotion.

Let us pray – Our Father who art in Heaven

Upon every Grave, Let the Warm summer sun,

Shine brightly there

Let the Warm southern wind,

Blow softly there.

Let the Green sod above,

Lie lightly there

Almighty God

Guide us, as we say Good night Brave hearts.

Good Night.    Amen.

Believe In Life

The purpose of life is to grow and expand. Sometimes the prospects of growth, with their attendant trials and tribulations, are uncomfortable and at times painful. The thing about life though is – you cannot get from the start to the end without going through the middle. So if you aspire to grow, if you aspire to learn, if you aspire to be and become – aspire to life. Beliefs are what you live by. Believe in life and you will act accordingly.

A Message From Bob And Penny Lord To Men And Women Of Faith

We have real enemies out there, who hate us and everything we stand for, and they are working overtime to try to destroy our Christian values, and our way of life. A Fire Burns in Israel

I wish everything was that simple: A long time ago Jeremiah, speaking for God, warned Israel, “But if you do not listen to Me, to sanctify the Sabbath Day and to not carry a burden and enter Jerusalem’s gates on the Sabbath day, then I shall set fire to its gates, a fire that will consume the palaces of Jerusalem and not be extinguished.” (17:27) The logical implication, according to some, is that a fire burning out of control on Mt Carmel is God’s response to people violating the Sabbath.

Juanita’s Kitchen

In the corner of a tiny kitchen is a hole drilled into the wall; a small marble has worked its way in. A four-year old child sits in the corner of that kitchen; slowly, patiently with his index finger he works at that marble that will not be extricated. But it is the mind of that child that is quietly formulating one of life’s troubling concepts. Nearby, mother methodically kneads and wedges the masa for tortillas being freshly heated on a hot skillet.

SUNRISE AT SHIPSTONE ROCK

A few chosen can see the ages, and the sojourner, traveling from afar coming to rest at the base of a water fall, entering the Village Chapel near Shipstone Rock. When There Were Pelicans

When there were pelicans, enthusiastic youngsters would hook their first catch, they would forcibly hoist their manna from the sea – triggering a mad rush between men and an army of open beaks as the fish would slide and twitch with every bounce until one would win, the youngster, the pelican, or the fish escaping between slats of wood.

Millennias of Shadow and Light

It was a trip of a lifetime to a place where the cradle of civilization once flourished. The Nile was the giver of life and the Delta grew green with vegetation, fueling and feeding a great nation. Legions of soldiers and slaves marched before the Great Pyramids, which to this day mysteriously challenge the manner in which they were built.

With Tux and Tail

Duke, in his own way, warned us about the quake that hit Northridge in 1994. He woke us up at 4:25 A.M. and had us take him outside. The quake started five minutes later. It was moments like this when I wished I could “mind-meld” with him, but I was always afraid of suddenly chasing the first car that would race around the corner.
