   my space-shuttle/rocket/plane crazy 3.5 year old loves this. he doesn’t care too much about the astronaut figures, flag etc., but the shuttle itself is a sure hit. one issue is the cargo bay door – it won’t stay shut; but a small plastic tape does the trick. wish the set included the fuel tank + boosters as well (would pay more for those).

   My son didn’t like it too much and he is obsessed with space. He’s 5 and just wasn’t that into it. He said it was cool, but he thought it was for bigger kids.

   My purchase was the SECOND such space shuttle this particular four year old received. When asked if he would like to exchange it for something else he said an absolute no. And proceeded to play for the next hour or more with a shuttle in each hand. I looked at a number of toy shuttles and choose this one based on the opening doors. That feature seems to be primary to the enjoyment of the toy for this boy. Nice toy and a good value.

   Saw a previous review on the construction of the toy, which made me choose it for by 5 year old. It is a great little replica, and a lot like one my brother had when we were little. My son loves the space men, too.

   Unfortunately, the doors on the shuttle, the arm that comes out of the shuttle and the landing gear are all plastic, not die case. The doors don’t close tight to each other either, and the arm detaches easily (read: will be lost soon). So, I am not sure about the longevity of the toy, but he does love it. So does my 3 year old.
