There is a group of people who have grown up in United States, get educated here, then find a job, due to their background of illegal immigrates, they walked harder than others at the road of life, with more difficulties and troubles. In order to live in the country fair and square, as well as pursue better personal developments, among the young generation of illegal immigrates, some have chosen to put themselves forward, taking the risk of being deported, waving flag and whoop with the intention to promote The Dream Act, fighting to make their identities legal some day. Unregistered household university students Though 22 years old now, Lesley had gone to Los Angeles from Mexico with her mother at the time when she was just 6 years old, her status was still “illegal immigrates”. Lesley’s mother supported the whole family by doing housework for others. At present Lesley is a student majored at history, University of California, Los Angeles, United States, she has take three part-time jobs, as table steward etc. She planed to study master’s degree, but it is not an easy thing for her. As an illegal immigrate, there are much more limitations she will suffer for enrollment and employment than the local legal citizens. When she was young, Lesley did not dare to mention her status of illegal immigrates, even the opposition was her best friend. She clearly understood that she could not enjoy many special treatments which have been enjoyed by the locals, e.g. she cannot visit her grandmother in Mexico, she cannot participate in election, she cannot get driving license through studying etc. At high school, Lesley got good marks and studied at major work class, but she was afraid that she may not be able to apply university. Before graduation, she revealed her heart voice to counselor. This was the first time that she told her secrets to some other person, unexpectedly the counselor said that not only did she have quality to apply an university but also she should not stay at major work class. According to the counselor, if she knew early that Lesley was an illegal immigrate, anyway she would never arrange Lesley at major work class for studying. Later Lesley learned that according to the regulations of the state California where she stay, she of course can apply for university, what’s more she can contribute the lowest tuition fee at the standard of intrastate students. In spite of that, she will have to burden about 10,000 dollars of tuition fee every year, due to the lacking of legal status, she can apply neither nation-level and state-lever assistantship or scholarship, even any work-study programs. In order to save travelling expenses, Lesley has rented a little room sharing with other four sisters, with the rental of 250 dollars per girl each moth. All the girls are sleeping at loft, it will just take 10 minutes from here to school on foot.
